A vermiculite board can be part of the furnace lining or a thermal shield, depending on the product and design. These applications have different requirements. Before purchasing, you need to determine whether you are restoring part of the firebox or designing surface protection behind the appliance.
Firebox lining: geometry matters
If you are replacing the original board, check the material, thickness, shape, and position of the element in the insert instructions. Holes, chamfers, and support can affect the operation of the appliance. The mere fact that the new board fits in the chamber does not confirm compliance.
Maintain the required mounting method and space for thermal expansion. Random screws or rigid gluing are not a good substitute for the fastening intended by the manufacturer. Loose or crumbling lining requires assessment before ignition.
Wall shield: the whole system matters
Vitcas vermiculite insulating board has described applications and mounting methods. At the wall, it is additionally necessary to establish the stove requirements, type of partition, and any ventilated gap. The board does not automatically authorize reducing the distance from wood.
BA board adhesive can be part of an approved system. Before choosing it, check the surface of the substrate, the method of support, and the board's requirements. Adhesive does not replace the entire protective design.
Fit, mark, support
Before cutting, take measurements and fit the template. Work on a stable surface and minimize dust according to the material instructions. Mark the cutting line; do not adjust corners by accidental breaking. The finished element should have support in accordance with the intended installation.
After the first heating cycles, inspect the board when cold. A crack accompanied by crumbling or displacement requires determining the cause. Easy material trimming does not mean that every replacement or cover is a quick job without prior checking of the structure.
